She then completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the renowned Roski Eye Institute at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Hospital. During fellowship, she underwent additional refractive surgery training with the United States Navy at Camp Pendleton, California. After training at the best institutions from the east coast, to the west coast, Dr Shah brings her medical and surgical expertise to Houston.

Dr. Shah is one of a handful of ophthalmologists in the country that is fellowship trained in both cornea and refractive surgery. As the recipient of grant awards from the Melanoma Research Foundation and Fight for Sight, Dr. Shah completed a research fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Her research has lead to the publication of several book chapters and over 15 peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of Ophthalmology. She has also presented at various national conferences.

Dr. Shah is a board certified ophthalmologist by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. With over a decade of surgical experience, Dr Shah is an experienced surgeon, yet is "young enough" to stay current on the latest technology.  She has become well known and respected in the Houston area and was voted Houstonia Magazine’s Top Doctor in Ophthalmology by her physician colleagues as well as Texas Monthly's 2023 and 2024 SuperDoctor. Her areas of expertise include comprehensive ophthalmology, as well as surgical care for cataracts, including laser cataract surgery with lens upgrades, LASIK/PRK, full and partial thickness cornea transplants (DSAEK, DMEK), ocular surface diseases and infections, medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, dry eye management, and eye allergies. She also sees patients for routine comprehensive medical eye exams, eye emergencies, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

She enjoys traveling with her husband and son and has undergone medical mission trips in Nicaragua and India. Her hobbies include tennis, painting, and staying physically active. She is fluent in medical Spanish, Gujarati, and Hindi. Dr Shah prides herself in providing ethical, high level medical and surgical care using the latest technology. She treats her patients the way she would want to be treated, and enjoys being involved in the pre and post operative road to recovery. She looks forward to meeting you and your family
